No more flowers, ribbons or bows until we figure this all out, PLEASE.

As many of you know, I was arrested by the Coquette Cops this week for critical thinking!!!!

Was anyone scared? Raise your hand if you were scared. Let me catch you up. Ribbons wrapped themselves around a faction of the fashion world, and some are finding themselves suffocated by the girl-ification of culture.

In an apt thread, scholar and professor Ruby Justice Thelot outlines the history of ribbons in fashion, including as objects of affection used by men in the 16th and 17th century. Bows and ribbons have long existed as vestimental ornaments and considered both “complicated symbols of reclaiming girlhood'' and simple pleasures of getting dressed. As of late, they’ve dominated memes, accessories and style through the coquette-ification of culture. Coquette-ification refers broadly to participating in a flirtatious and ultra-girly niche micro-aesthetic. In fashion it often means signaling using ribbons and ‘Vivenne Westwood Style Orb Pearl’ necklaces on Amazon.
